THE COMMON QUESTIONS

Good to know.

Which download do I need?

x64 is for 64-bit Intel and AMD PCs. ARM64 is for devices with compatible UEFI firmware. ARM support depends on the device, so check your exact model with us. Compare the downloads.

Will it run on my Mac?

Tell us the model and year before installing. Choosing x64 or ARM64 only matches the processor; it does not confirm support for your Mac's firmware, graphics or other hardware. Ask about your Mac.

Can I try it before installing?

Yes. Boot the live USB and check the desktop, network, sound and display. Starting the live session does not install InfinityOS. The installer is a separate step.

What about Secure Boot and NVIDIA?

The current images require UEFI with Secure Boot disabled. On supported x64 machines, the installer selects the NVIDIA driver using the card's PCI ID. Connect to the internet so it can download the required packages.

Can I keep Windows?

Keeping another system requires a partition layout that leaves its data intact. Back up your files and save your Windows recovery key. Ask us about your disk layout before installing; an erase-disk option removes Windows too.

How do I move from InfinityOS 01 to 02?

Version 02 changes the Fedora base from 44 to 45. The published migration notes do not yet provide a verified in-place upgrade procedure. Back up your files and use a fresh installation, or ask us before upgrading your existing system.

Are Steam and the other launchers installed?

Choose them in InfinitySetup and press Apply. GameMode, MangoHud and Gamescope are included in the system. A launcher being available does not guarantee that every game works, particularly games with anti-cheat. ARM gaming also depends on the device's graphics and compatibility tools.

How do updates and Recovery work?

Use InfinityUpdater for updates. Before an RPM upgrade, it creates a snapshot of the system root. You can restore a root snapshot from the Backups entry in the boot menu. Your home folder and /var are outside that snapshot, so keep a separate backup of personal files.

Does RAMDrive use my RAM?

No. It is a scratch folder on disk. InfinityOS asks before clearing it during an orderly shutdown. A crash or forced reset leaves its contents on disk.

How do I open InfinityTerminal?

Press Super+T, or use its panel icon. Press the shortcut again to hide it without closing your shell. Super is usually the Windows or Command key.

Include your InfinityOS version, computer model, graphics card and the steps that led to the problem. An exact error message helps more than “it doesn't work”. Remove personal information from logs and screenshots before sharing them.
